Untitled Performance by Markiyan Matshekh (2013)

On December 7, 2013, in the midst of the Kiev riots, Markiyan Matshekh dragged a piano out into the street and played music in the space in between a mob of protestors and a line of riot policemen.

At this point, peaceful protest had already been met with extreme violence by the police, and Matshekh’s action was one of incredible bravery and solidarity. He himself said that one of their aims was to get the policeman on their side.
