“WideNoise” by WideTag (2009)

WideNoise is an app designed to decrease the amount of noise pollution a user experiences in their day-to-day lives, by constantly taking sound measurements from the device it is installed on, and generating useful information the sound levels and location from the user’s phone and those of others in the area.

smartphones are inherently excellent platforms for interfacing with the Internet of Things, and this is a good example of this idea. the app is generally agreed as one of 2009’s highlights in its field.
