iPhone Violin Case
My goal of creating this instrument was to create an instrument that could be carried around easily and played anywhere. I connected this to how as a society we carry phones around constantly and they have more power than most people realize. I also wanted this instrument to be easy to re-create as my first instrument was based on a found object which can make re-creating tricky. I created a 3D printed iPhone case that has a tiny violin bow on the back with a small case on the top of the phone for the electronics like the battery and pre-amp. A wire runs from the electronics case to the middle of the bow which connects the pre-amp to the piezo. This sound could then be recorded and looped through Pd patches and the program MobMuPlat. I tried to simplify the case and use similar curves to the iPhone to try to keep some of the aesthetic while adding some of my own. I hope in the future to make the case even more sleek (probably involving smaller electronics/battery) and adding effects to the Pd patch. I would like to continue making easily portable instruments and working with cell phones to create art. Main Patch: Main Sub-Patch:
