Urban Picnicing and Conext Analysis of Craid St Parking space by Sebrand

In an attempt to paint a picture of what the world could look like without cars a group of friends and I paid for a street parking spot for an hour and set up a picnic area sign. We parked our bikes in the spit and pulled out some cheese, crackers and a ton of fruit.

We invited all passers by to join us. People were pleased by the exhibition and drivers were thoughtful when asking to park in the spaces in front or behind us. No one asked us to move, through a group of teenagers complained amongst themselves as they passed by, “If I had a car I would drive right over those idiots”. A su-chef came out of his restaurant to tell us what a fun idea this was and how it made him happy to live in Pittsburgh.
