“I Need Help to Feel” by Ben Gansky (2012)

In this performance, which took place during an event at Elsewhere Collaborative in Greensboro, NC, I chopped onions and cried while reading out loud news stories. Next to me stood a sign that said “I NEED HELP TO FEEL”. This was all recorded on video.

In the second portion of the performance, which took place immediately afterward, I played the footage of part one in the public kitchen at Elsewhere while caramelizing the onions and toasting bread. The food was then served to the audience.
