“Car Theft for Kids” by Machine Project (2011)
Presented by the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis as part of L.A.-based Machine Projects summer 2011 residency, Car Theft for Kids is pretty much what it sounds like–a hands-on workshop for children, teaching them the practical skills necessary to break into or out of a locked automotive. This is a paradigmatically Machine Project project: playfully subversive, almost definitely a ‘bad idea’, super fun, and with a lot of not-so-secret pedagogy going on. If you don’t know about Machine Project yet, you should. |
