{"id":1940,"date":"2012-11-07T12:20:44","date_gmt":"2012-11-07T17:20:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/teach.alimomeni.net\/2012fall2b\/?p=1940"},"modified":"2012-11-07T12:45:12","modified_gmt":"2012-11-07T17:45:12","slug":"fabric-sculptures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/teach.alimomeni.net\/2012fall2b\/?p=1940","title":{"rendered":"Fabric at a Massive Scale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recalling an artist we looked at earlier, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lehmannmaupin.com\/artists\/do-ho-suh\">Do Ho Suh<\/a>, I was drawn to his ability to create such an\u00a0unusual\u00a0space\u00a0using fabrics extending from the ceiling. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.studiolilica.com\/custom\/\">Studio Lilica<\/a> is another group of artists who explores ways of creating sculptural pieces or lightings using fabric that extends from the ceiling.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/teach.alimomeni.net\/2012fall2b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Screen-Shot-2012-11-07-at-12.20.54-PM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2100\" title=\"Screen Shot 2012-11-07 at 12.20.54 PM\" src=\"https:\/\/teach.alimomeni.net\/2012fall2b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Screen-Shot-2012-11-07-at-12.20.54-PM-300x157.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"157\" srcset=\"https:\/\/teach.alimomeni.net\/2012fall2b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Screen-Shot-2012-11-07-at-12.20.54-PM-300x157.png 300w, https:\/\/teach.alimomeni.net\/2012fall2b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Screen-Shot-2012-11-07-at-12.20.54-PM.png 858w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I find both\u00a0aesthetic\u00a0and metaphoric beauty in the\u00a0extension\u00a0of fabrics at a mass scale. The\u00a0environment\u00a0it creates is very mystical, putting you at a setting simliar to a deep forest full of trees overwhelming, with path of shadows on the ground.
